Finding your size

The simplest way to size a belt is to measure one you already own, from the end of the buckle to the hole you use most. Otherwise, a belt one size up from your trouser waist size usually fits well. Some belts can be trimmed to length, and reversible belts give you two colours, usually black and brown, in one.

Width and occasion

Matching your leathers

As a rule, match your belt to your shoes: black with black, brown with brown. A logo buckle adds a designer touch to a simple outfit; a plain pin buckle is more understated and works with everything.

Care

Hang belts or roll them loosely rather than folding them, which can crack the leather. A little leather conditioner keeps them supple.
