Christian Dior defined the criteria of feminine elegance throughout the world. Born in 1905 to a wealthy fertilizer manufacturer, he wanted to pursue a career in fashion and used to sell his sketches outside his home to make money. After receiving funding from his father, Dior opened an art gallery where he traded paintings by artists such as Pablo Picasso.  A quiet man, simple and reserved his character was miles away from the stereotypical flamboyant designer, Dior had a lifelong love of nature and this heavily influenced many of his designs. In 1946 Dior founded his fashion house which is still running today, his first collection was titled Corolle (meaning circlet of flower petals), the collection was well received and it marked the beginning of an Iconic career.  It was Christian Dior's love of beauty that lead to a career in fashion and this is very much displayed in his work.
