Work tote or weekend tote?

For work, choose a structured tote with a zip top and an internal sleeve. If you carry a laptop, check the inside dimensions against your device; a 13-inch laptop needs roughly 33 cm of inside width, a 15-inch around 37 cm. Comfort matters

A full tote gets heavy. Look for handles long enough to sit on the shoulder over a coat, and for a flat base or protective feet so the bag stands up on its own and stays clean. A detachable crossbody strap is a useful extra on smaller totes.

Keeping it organised

Large totes can turn into a black hole. A tote with interior zip and slip pockets, a key clip or a removable pouch keeps the small things findable. If your tote has an open interior, a wash bag or small coin purse inside does the same job.
