London Collections Men finishes today, after a weekend of explosive catwalk shows and designer presentations. MyBag have spent the weekend lusting after all of the accessories from the likes of Barbour, Universal Works, Oliver Spencer and Paul Smith – some of our absolute favourite British brands.
Friday saw the quintessentially British brand Barbour stride down the catwalk, with olive waxed leather and tartan unapologetically playing a crucial part in the collection. In a rustic colour palette and with a distinctive countryside feel, Barbour combined preppy chinos with mustard yellow jackets and oversized snoods; cardigans – over cardigans – over basic slub tees; and all black utility trousers with heavy-duty boots and matte quilted jackets. This was countryside chic, but not as we know it.
Universal Works came next, and the vibe could not have been more juxtaposed with Barbour. It was a day at the fair with Universal Works: models carried fluffy sticks of candyfloss, and were a dab hand at the coconut shy. Tailored trousers were paired with knitted beanie hats, and laced up trainers offset the formality of beautifully-cut woollen overcoats.
Oliver Spencer is one of MyBag’s favourite brands for meticulously crafted loungewear, and Saturday saw the full collection for SS16 hit the runway. A relatively new brand, Oliver Spencer is the self-titled menswear label created by Mr Oliver Spencer himself, inspired by art, architecture and British culture. Synonymous with laidback, easy to wear styles in soft fabrics and understated, muted tones, Oliver Spencer loungewear is a must for those who like to relax in style.
Soft shapes and fluid designs were key in the Oliver Spencer London Collections Men show; much like their loungewear, Oliver Spencer clothing is the epitome of casual-meets-luxe. Co-ordinated trouser and turtleneck outfits had crisp formal jackets thrown over the top; soft cotton shirts were tucked haphazardly into heavy wool trousers; and even the fabrics screamed comfort, with velvet trousers and thick-knit sweaters making an appearance.
Treat yourself to some Oliver Spencer loungewear at MyBag now.
