As we move in to a new season for SS18, MyBag is excited to announce our collaboration with Fashion Illustrator Tanya Kancheva for an elegant and artistic take on our favourite brands including Meli Melo, Salar, Grafea and Karl Lagerfeld.
We’re so excited to jump in to a new season in collaboration with such a talented artist, so leading up to the launch of our exciting new campaign we sat down with Tanya to learn a bit about her background, influence and how she feels about 2018.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Independent, Creative, Daydreamer
How did you get into fashion illustration?
I have a history of Fashion and Textile Design experience and education; however I found Fashion illustration most satisfying of everything I have learnt, I find doing it gives me joy and pleasure. I started about four years ago with my basic knowledge from high school, and I first I just used to draw as a hobby and for fun, but later I won a contest organised by a skincare company called Bioderma France, who chose my illustration for the label of their limited edition Micellar water. After that, I started to take fashion illustration more seriously and began to pursue it as a career path.
Who’s your fashion inspiration?
When looking for new inspiration I love visiting museums, art galleries and exhibitions. Recently I visited two fashion exhibitions in Paris – Christian Dior’s ’70 years Haute Couture’ and the ‘Museum of Yves Saint Laurent’, part of the Fondation Pierre Berge. Both were truly amazing.
What’s your favourite brand/collection of all time?
I adore the unique style of Stephen Rouland Haute Couture as well as classics such as YSL, Oscar de la Renta, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Delpozo and Jonathan Saunders for DVF.
What are your handbag essentials?
My phone, a pocket size YSL gold mirror, a lip gloss, a concealer, mini pocket size umbrella, sunglasses, a pen (for quick sketching on the go), and of course my keys and wallet.
What’s your must-have accessory?
Of course it’s my bag. Bags have been my favourite accessories since I was a teenage girl. Wearing a simple outfit with the right bag lets you express your fashion attitude or make a statement, I feel like it’s a great way to show the kind of person you are too.
What are your 2018 goals?
This year I would like my goals to be balanced, no crazy almost impossible professional peaks or tough projects like I had in the past few years. For me right now is more important to create quality over quantity and do less more inspiring projects, where I can be encouraged to show my very own signature style and creativity.
