We sat down with Mariya Dykalo from Aspinal of London, to talk through the latest collections and her inspiration.

How would you describe Aspinal of London?

Aspinal of London is quintessentially English. Posh, polished and great quality – Aspinal products are made to be loved for a lifetime.

What was the inspiration behind the SS16 collection?

Our mood for SS16 is very imaginary, fresh and natural, inspired by classic English gardens. Bright colours feature along with textured metallics and beautiful silk prints.

The floral theme has a modern twist by teaming with contrasting leather textures, panelling and unique fabrications.

Do you have a favourite piece from the new collection?

I do have a real favourite but I can’t give too much away! It’s a really unique take on our iconic Medium Marylebone Tote, that I know press and customers will love. We also have new shapes in the women’s collection which I think will surprise and delight. I can’t wait to reveal all on Monday the 21st!

What are you most looking forward to at London Fashion Week?

Of course I’m super excited about our SS16 collection launch, it’s always a nerve-wracking moment seeing how the collection will be received. I also like to stay up to date on my favourite designers, so will be watching out for Emilia Wickstead and Roksanda Ilincic.

How would you style Aspinal bags?

My daily style is classic but I love to add a playful touch. For day to day work I carry my Marylebone Tote, it’s so versatile so I can dress up or down. On the school run I love to wear the mini duffle bag with jeans and t-shirt, it’s casual but on trend. For evenings my favourite is the Mini Manhattan Clutch in one of our new prints.

What can we expect to see next from the brand?

More beautiful bags and international expansion.

With a wardrobe mostly made up of timeless classics, you’ll find me investing in great quality accessories that are both long-lasting and on-trend. When I’m not writing about fashion and style I’m… writing about fashion and style on my personal blog, dreaming up my next holiday or continuing my research on the best glass of Prosecco in Manchester.
