We’re taught, from a young age, that black is the easiest colour to wear. Universally flattering and often as the core colour in many outfits, many of us fall into the trap of solely wearing head-to-toe noir and boasting a bursting wardrobe of black, on black - on black. Sounding familiar?

This season, pink is the colour of choice: it’s been spotted all over the runway and in every designer’s SS17 collection. If you’re wanting to embrace this trend but aren’t ready to ditch the funereal-chic of an all-black ’drobe, listen up – we’ve got some tips for you…

Choose Muted Tones

Okay, we admit it: pink is hardly inconspicuous, as far as colour palettes go. If you’re reluctant to leave your all-black comfort zone, the first step can often be the hardest- that’s why we say choose muted, softer tones initially. Think blushes, nudes and pearly off-whites to start your love affair with pink – you’ll thank us later!

Scared To Wear Pink In The Day? Rock It In The Evening

If your daytime look is black with a hint of black – and you’re not prepared to compromise here – try adding a pop of pink to your LBD for cocktails and dancing. Pair sweet pastel-coloured clutches with floaty silhouettes, or tougher, deeper pink accessories with leather skinnies and glamorous blouses. Sky-scraper stilettos mandatory.

Rose Gold Is Basically Pink, Right?

If the thought of toting around a blush-coloured bag leaves you cold, why not try injecting pink into your look with some jewellery, instead? Rose-gold is the more feminine counterpart of gold and silver, so choose chunky watches, delicate necklaces and in-your-face earrings to add some glitz to your outfit.

Pink Sunglasses: Yes Please

Much like the addition of jewellery, colourful sunglasses will never detract from your monochrome ensemble – they’ll simply enhance it. Choose simple, classic frames that won’t date; shy away from heavily-embellished styles, as they’ll look clunky and awkward with a minimalist outfit.
